This section covers the third part of the Moors for the Future Partnership project- To establish a learning centre to develop conservation expertise and provide a research and educational resource available to all.
A new visitor and learning centre will be delivered through the redevelopment of the existing National Park centre at Edale.
The centre aims to:
- Interpret the special qualities of the moorlands for visitors to Edale in order to increase the public’s understanding and enjoyment of this fragile national resource
- Provide improved landscaping
- Aim to attract repeat visitors, through changing displays and a programme of events
- Cater for a range of ages and interests
- Provide ‘access for all’ (disabled) to the buildings and grounds
- Provide a rest and shelter area
- Provide an information service, including weather forecast and wildlife sightings
- Provide retail and display space
