National Trust Cafes

To take time out from your wonderful walk, or to simply have a quick bite to eat, National Trust cafes are usually surrounded by breathtaking scenery, wonderful walks or historic architecture. They can be settled inside or outside the sites and sounds of National trust properties, attached to a stately home or kept inside the castle maybe. Offering seasonal and home-cooked food, including produce from local National Trust farms sometimes, eat in or take away. They are a wonderful respite from the weather, but a welcome break for a pot of tea for two. They can also be bustling with a coach party prearranged for a three course lunch delight. After a hard day in the hills, or resting your poor sore feet from shopping in the nearby local village, the cafes have a most welcoming service with a smile, and excellent home-cooked food. Providing souvenirs to takeaway, chocolates and biscuits to bring back to your loved ones, the cafes offer up a treasure trove of local legends, stories and knowledge, often complete with their own little gift shops for you to stock up to take home.

Groups are often welcome, families with children adored. They are equipped to look after the weary traveller, and muddy boots are nearly almost always welcome. From delicious breakfasts to luscious lunches, cakes and locally made ice cream can be bought and sampled. They are an ideal base for your big day out, and whether you are hill walking, cycling or simply visiting for the day, the National Trust cafes will look after your every whim. Some are available for private hire, to organise those special events including bistro nights, barbecue evenings and guided walks with a stop off for your tea.  Check the details of opening hours before you go, and if there is a large party then always be sure to book ahead. Throughout the main seasons, when the attached National Trust property or garden is open, rest assured the cafe will be bustling with life as well. Sample the delights of the surrounding scenery and dawdle amongst the Dales, but know you will have a welcome break if you need it, at one of the many cafes, large or small, to cater to your every need. Some even provide packed lunches, so do your research and takeoff on your travels with a hearty meal in your knapsack, provided by local people who care about the Peak District as much as you do, of course.
