Even if you are only doing small sections of the Pennine Way, it is guaranteed to show you some stunning scenery along the way. It is certainly a challenge and to know you have a base to go home to at the end of your weary way, then choose hotels at certain points of the bridleway and stay full board or dine out somewhere new each night. The 205 miles route follows old packhorse ways, drovers roads and newly created bridleways and the 120 mile southern section is now open to include the 47 mile Mary Towneley loop, a reasonably demanding route because the way it dips in an out of the steep sided South Pennine valleys.
