Denby Pottery Visitor Centre

Attractive cobbled courtyard surrounded by a selection of shops and restaurant. Activities at Denby include daily guided pottery tours, free cookery demonstrations in the kitchen theatre and a traditional glass blowing studio.

All tours at Denby are fully guided in small groups and include making a clay souvenir to take home, and painting on plates with glaze.
Factory Tours, lasting approximately 90 minutes are available Mondays to Thursdays at 10.30am and 1pm and include the working factory and glass studio.
Craftroom Tours, suitable for all ages and lasting approximately 45 minutes are available between 11am and 3pm daily.

The large Denby Factory Shop stocks new and established Denby tableware in first and seconds quality along with glassware and accessories. There are always lots of bargains on seconds with frequent special sales and offers throughout the year.

Gifts and plants for the garden and conservatory can be found in the Garden Emporium. Jewellery, cards and general gifts are on sale in the Gift Box Shop and paintings by local artists are located in the reception area along with souvenirs, personalised hand-painted ware and a small Denby Museum.

The Denby Visitor Centre is open daily (normally only closed 25th & 26th December) Monday to Saturdays 9.30 ? 5pm, Sundays 10am ? 5pm (factory Sunday opening hours are 11am ? 5pm). For enquiries and to book a tour please call 01773 740799. Coaches and groups welcome.

The Glass Studio

Original designs created in the Glass Studio are made entirely by hand using the ancient art of glass blowing.
Our two designers, Paul Barcroft and Tom Petit, work together to produce this unique glass which is on sale in the Visitor Centre.

Products include tabletop pieces – goblets, decanters and candlesticks and decorative bowls and vases.
Tours of the Glass Studio are available during the week. A guide will explain the processes involved as you watch a piece of glass being made.

The Cookery Emporium

The ultimate experience for all cooks! Discover a vast array of equipment from everyday to designer, including top brands such as Cole and Mason, Richardsons Oneida, Le Creuset and Kitchen Aid to name but a few!
Browse around the extensive choice of saucepans, bakeware, gadgets, utensils, storage, table accessories and much more… If you don’t see what you want, we’ll be surprised!

See the latest equipment put to the test in the Demonstration Theatre – and taste the results. Free recipes to take away.

Demonstrations are twice daily and free of charge, (except when celebrity chefs visit).

A fantastic selection of tumblers, champagne flutes, wine glasses and goblets at bargain prices, plus ornamental and coloured glass, vases and bowls.

The Courtyard Restaurant

Relax in a traditional, cosy atmosphere and enjoy meals, snacks, coffee and cakesLunch is served 12 noon to 2pm.
You’ll find a selection of home cooked dishes, including the popular house special ‘Homity Pie’.
The restaurant is self service.

Special rates for lunch are available for pre-booked groups of 20 or more.

Tours

All Tours at Denby are led by experienced Tour Guides who will take you round and explain how the pottery is made. There are two Pottery Tours to choose from; both include a video presentation, and the opportunity to have fun!
Have a go at painting a plate yourself! If you like the results we’ll fire it for you for a small charge!
Handle some clay – press it into a mould to make your own Denby frog.

Please Note!
For safety reasons we are unable to admit children under 6, wheelchairs or prams or babies in arms on the full tour and it is not recommended for visitors with walking difficulties. However up to 2 wheelchairs and all ages are welcome on the Craftroom Tour. All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Factory Tours are not available during factory closures – check before travelling.

School Visits

All the Tour Guides at Denby are experienced in presenting the Pottery Tour to all ages of children in a way that they will find interesting and fun.

The Museum is free to look around, and here the children can see examples of Denby Pottery from the past 190 years.

In the factory the children will experience the atmosphere of a working pottery with all its fascinating sights and sounds.

Please note there must be one adult per 9 children.

The Group rate is 1 in 10 tours free (when 10 or more places are booked)
