For a really fantastic holiday break, then camping and caravanning near the Tissington Trail tops the list for a really wonderful stay. With mostly gentle gradients it is a joy to either cycle or walk, stroll along with the pram or push the elderly parents in a wheelchair. As the site of the disused railway, the mainly flat trail takes you through some glorious scenery, lush fields and meadows of farmland to be able to take off from the trail itself anytime you wish and find time alone to picnic with your loved ones. Wander into the villages and treat yourself to a pub lunch or perhaps just time for a tea break with time to relax before wending your way forwards .
Passing very close to Dove Dale, Hartington and other picturesque villages don’t forget to stop in Tissington village and admire the famous hall. There are so many sites to see -take it all in your stride or cycle as fast or as slow as you feel the need. Joining up with the High Peak Trail for a more strenuous route, (all 73 miles of it ) why not simply enjoy superb viewing points across the glorious countryside of this most beautiful part of the White Peak? It certainly is a green and pleasant land, crisscrossed with white limestone walls, with cows grazing adding to the quintessentially countryside scenes. It’s a great area to pitch your tent or to park your camper – you’ll certainly be glad you made the right choice.
