Burbage South

Burbage South
Spiritual home of Hard Grit, Burbage South offers varied bouldering that is always of impeccable quality. Best savoured with local knowledge, we have tried our best to guide you, but the visitor will need patience to get the best out of this circuit. Many problems are well spread out, and often well hidden, among the routes and jumbled blocks along the edge.

Approach
There is limited parking in a small lay-by on the road at the bottom of the valley from where the Green Drive can be followed to below the edge. Alternatively, park alongside the A625 between the B6450 turn off and the Fox House Inn, and approach across the moor. Or, if you enjoy a stroll, park at Burbage North and follow the Green Drive down the valley. The Fox House Inn is well served by buses from Sheffield.

Conditions
West-facing, the edge is shaded in the first half of the day and with a good breeze can hold good conditions well into summer. The quarries can be sheltered in a cold wind. The boulders get the sun all day – most pleasant.
