Eyam Hall, the historic Derbyshire home of the Wright family. Our family is the latest in a long line of Wrights who have been fortunate enough to live in this beautiful house for over 300 years.
The house is a remarkably unspoilt example of a Jacobean manor house. It opened to the public in 1992 but still retains the intimate atmosphere of a much loved family home. Under the watchful gaze of the Wright ancestors’ portraits you will visit the beautiful, stone-flagged hall, unique tapestry room, the bedroom with its magnificent tester bed and the nursery with toys from 1860 to the present day. Other rooms reveal costumes belonging to the Wright family, precious artifacts and fascinating family momentos. The observant visitor may even see our resident ghost, Sarah Mills, who drowned in Wright’s well and still answers the night bell!
This year, to celebrate the Royal Wedding, we have a wedding exhibition with dresses worn by the Wright family and family wedding photographs.
The delightful garden, adjacent to the house, still retains its 17th century layout, with a knot garden, bowling green, potager and rose walk.
The farm buildings have been converted into a working Craft Centre with a shop and a licensed restaurant. This is open through out the year.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit to Eyam Hall as much as we appreciate living here.
