ASHWOOD ARTISAN. KITCHENS, BEDROOMS AND FURNITURE. Situated in the heart of the Peak District, in a sixteenth century courtyard, near the spa town of Buxton. Ashwood Artisan is owned and operated by Bryan Callaghan-Gratton. Since leaving school I have always had a passion for making furniture. Using traditional methods of furniture making, all our wooden drawer boxes, for example, are made with dovetailed joints.
With over 40 years experience, craftsmen using both traditional and modern skills to make kitchens, bedrooms and free standing furniture to enhance your home or office. We use mainly hardwoods such as Oak, Maple, Ash and Walnut. Having furniture and kitchens custom made enables you to use every little space available. The timber is chosen to suit clients tastes, if you like knots we leave them in. Wood looks good in its natural form, however it can be stained. We offer a range of finishes like oiled, waxed, lacquered, spray or hand painted to match any paint colour.
Our kitchens are designed with the client, after we have visited your home to get a feel for the place. No pressure selling, just an informal chat, with a cup of tea, with one of the actual craftsman, to get your needs and requirements. We welcome you to visit the showroom and workshop to view work in progress. Please phone first to make an appointment as we might be out on site fitting or visiting a client.Complete Hand Made kitchens starting from £15,000 including appliances and granite. Ninety percent of our work are referrals/recommendations. We also supply off the shelf kitchens and will beat Like for Like quotes for the same quality. A complete service from design, tiling, plastering, electrics and installation is offered or supply only. We can purchase any brand of appliance, Miele, Siemens, Bosch, Rangemaster, we do buy direct from Neff and Britannia and can compete with internet prices.
If you wish to add to your existing kitchen, bedroom or furniture we can reproduce the style and colour. For those of you who are environmentally friendly the shavings get used as bedding for the local farm animals, and then they are put back on the land. The offcuts of timber are used on log fires. We source only the best quality timber available and make every effort to ensure it originates from environmentally managed woodlands where sustainability is a prime concern. It is our purchasing policy to buy certified timber from companies who have a proven track record in understanding today’s responsibilities. For every handmade kitchen sold we have a tree planted.
