Old Nursery House B&B is close to Chatsworth House & the market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne & the spa town of Matlock. It takes full advantage of the stunning Peak District landscape with expansive views and spectacular sunsets.
The former farmhouse offers a very comfortable country house feel and has been carefully restored to enhance its original features. The house is close to the very pretty and historic village of Winster, which offers a village shop, two pubs ( both serving food ) a lovely church and its very own Morris dancers as well as the Winster Guisers.
Surrounded by open countryside whilst near to Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House, the area offers beautiful walks, ample pubs & restaurants and many outdoor pursuits including riding, sailing, rock climbing , mountain biking and walking. Whatever the purpose of your stay, we will endeavour to help you make the best of your time here by offering you a warm welcome and a most comfortable stay with us. Very close by, are the dramatic rocks of Robin Hoods Stride, the Hermits Cave and the Stone Circle at Stanton.
The Zoffany Room is our main guest room and has a double bed with twin aspect windows overlooking the adjoining fields and distant westerly hillside. With a generous private bathroom with shower and double ended bath, we supply plenty of towels, bathrobes and luxury toiletries to enhance your stay.
By request, we can offer an additional room to be booked in conjunction with the main guest room. The Poppy room is another double room and is bright and sunny. It has a comfortable double bed, a tv/dvd and shares the bathroom with the the guests of the Zoffany room. The Poppy room will only be used as part of a booking made with the Zoffany room.
Tea/ coffee and herbal drinks are supplied in your room with fresh milk and biscuits. There are books, magazines and dvd’s for you to enjoy.
There is also a large comfortable sitting room with television, sky etc and open fire for your use during the cooler evenings. We provide plenty of magazines and books for your pleasure as well as use of the very pretty gardens. We have plenty of parking and space for bicycles etc.
Breakfast can be served in the garden on lovely mornings. Consisting of a full English breakfast with Derbyshire oatcakes or a lighter Continental breakfast with homemade bread and pastries. All ingredients are either homemade or sourced from Chatsworth and are served with freshly brewed coffee and juice.

The rooms are available from 3.30pm on arrival and 10.30 upon departure.
We are ideally placed for easy access to the pleasures that the Peak District has to offer. We also have our blog for up to date information of diary dates as well as the lesser known and unusual activities as the seasons progress!’ In addition we can offer the services of our friendly little dog who will eagerly oblige in sharing a walk with you and lead the way should you require extra company!
