17th Century Inn & Restaurant, with bed and breakfast in 7 spacious accommodation rooms.
The locally born landlord, Ian Jackson, has built up a wonderful reputation and provides a very warm welcome for the perfect must place to visit, eat and stay.
THE HISTORY OF THE MINERS INN.
Built in 1630 just before the great plague found its way to Eyam. Not always called the Miners Arms as until 1764 it was called the Kings Head. The present name derives from the many meetings the mine owners used to have here, mining lead and fluorspar, and calling themselves the Barmote Court, deciding things such as land rights etc.
Since 1812 the inn has also been used for meetings of the Prosecution of Felons committee, which is still in existence. There are many documented parts of the inns history around the pub, and as you would expect, the inn is also haunted. Reputedly by two young girls who died in a fire on the site before it was built, and by an ex-landlady who was murdered by her husband who is said to roam the corridors at night with her old fashioned dress making a loud rustling noise.
