The Mermaid Inn is perfect for special occasions. The impressive 17th Century Grade II Listed Coaching Inn features 13 en suite bedrooms, and blends luxurious finishes with historic character of 400 year old oak beams. The most impressive feature for groups is the 11 metre dining room that seats up to 34 on a single table with breathtaking panoramic views of The Roaches & beyond. In addition there are no less than 3 further lounge areas to relax in, not to mention your very own bar!
More Detail
The level of finish is very high throughout & includes carefully co-ordinated fabrics, leather sofas, and quartz work surfaces in the kitchen, blended with the character of parts of the original building that date back to 1653.
There is an abundance of space for the group to relax in – aside from the magnificent dining area there are a further 3 lounges, all with leather sofas, as well as the old bar area complete with oak tables, a pool table, table football, 42” TV & Karaoke!
There’s ample room outside with a patio area with pic-nic benches & a large BBQ looking out over a stunning view of The Roaches, and a large grassed area for games if required.
The kitchen is beautifully equipped with two hobs & two cookers, an American style fridge freezer (plus a second beer / wine fridge for all those extra bottles), two dishwashers, and washer dryer.
There is ample crockery, and glasses, and cooking equipment needed for big group catering. For those groups not wishing to cook for themselves all dining requirements can be catered for by local suppliers.
We welcome children and families – four of the bedrooms being suitable for families with a double bed and bunks (which are also suitable for adult usage if need be).
Location
We are located in the Peak District National Park conveniently located between Buxton & Leek in an area of complete seclusion at 1600 feet above sea level. There are excellent walks from the door, including a 500m stroll to the famous Mermaid Pool, scene of the only inland mermaid legend in England. The views from the property are simply inspiring with the stunning Roaches in the foreground, and views beyond of the Cheshire plain, Liverpool bay, and even as far as the distant Snowdonia Mountains. All this can be viewed from the large panoramic dining room window.
