The Lantern Pike Inn is a Pub, Restaurant and B & B situated in Little Hayfield, on the A624 between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith, and has been an Inn since 1851. The pub itself dates from the building of the turnpike from Old Glossop to Buxton in 1792.
Steeped in history and rich in character the pub is within the bounds of the Peak District National Park, and whilst having all modern amenities (e.g. free wifi access) the pub still retains its old world charm and provides the perfect base for you to discover The Peak District, Hayfield and surrounding attractions.Today, the resident owners Stella and Tom Cunliffe extend a warm and friendly welcome to all who frequent their country hostelry, with a roaring fire, good food complemented with a well-balanced Wine Menu, well-kept real ales and comfortable bedrooms. We are also very proud to be Hayfield’s ONLY main entry in the Good Pub Guide for the past 6 years.
Hayfield is the ‘Cradle of Coronation Street’ – in 1960 Tony Warren lived at Lantern Pike Cottage in Little Hayfield and he wrote the first 9 out of 12 episodes of Coronation Street laid on a chaise lounge by the fire in the Lantern Pike Inn, (The Inside Story by Bill Podmore with Peter Reece), an important part of the social history of England. Hayfield is also the birth place of Arthur Lowe, who appeared in the early years of Corrie and more famously in Dad’s Army..
