The Horse and Jockey is a contemporary Gastro Pub and Hotel in Wessington, Alfreton, Derbyshire. Located in a recently refurbished historical pub building, in the heart of the village. We are focused on providing friendly service in a wonderful setting whilst serving innovative, high quality food created from locally sourced produce to ensure the freshest of flavours. With 14 stunning en-suite bedrooms each with an individual design.

Food & Drink

We strive for quality and perfection with all our specially selected dishes using only the finest locally sourced ingredients. All freshly prepared by our hand-picked team of chefs, committed to giving you the best possible culinary experience whilst you dine with us.

Amongst our varied menu you’ll find bar snacks for a light nibble such as a freshly roasted corn on the cob or ‘hot & spicy’ chicken wings. For the full dining experience, our wide selection of main courses enables us to please even the fussiest of eaters.

We boast a diverse range of pub classics such as beer battered fish and chips and a chef’s choice of homemade pie of the day, to more ornate dishes such as British Isle mussels in white wine and pan-fried lambs liver with spinach and sweet onion relish.

Our extensive drinks menu offers a wide selection of lager, ale and wines. Our spirits are all featured with tasting notes and serving suggestions just in case you’re a little undecided. We also offer uniquely chosen cocktails, as well as our basement restaurant boasting it’s own more vast cocktail menu. We also offer various soft and hot drinks to suit everyone.

Here at the Horse & Jockey we have 14 country style bedrooms all featuring luxury en-suite bathrooms. Our rooms are designed and maintained to the highest standard with comfort and luxury paramount.

Conference Facilities

Our meeting room offers professional seminar facilities for your private conference. The highest standard of stationary, projector,  flip-chart and coffee facilities are all inclusive in the meeting room hire. A 24 hour reservation rate is also available in conjunction with our 14 bedroom suites.
