Surrounded by open fields with uninterrupted views of the moors, Smallshaw Farm Cottages are situated on the South Yorkshire/Peak District border. These these luxurious 5 Star Gold award winning cottages  enjoy an elevated position in glorious countryside and offer everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Four 17th century barns have been lovingly restored/converted into high class self-catering accommodation, with each cottage attractively furnished and exposed beams and stonework retaining much of the original character. Created and designed so that your holiday is the ultimate get away from it all, these properties are truly a home from home.

The cottages enjoy extensive gardens – an outdoor hot tub, Finnish barbeque house and tennis court enhances the outdoor space, providing the perfect setting to unwind or rejuvenate. This area has so much to offer. Remember the memorable footage of the opening stages of the Tour de France 2014, that’s where we are! Walking/ cycling routes are plentiful as well as famous attractions such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Chatsworth House or the bustling town of Holmfirth all within easy reach. Dog friendly, our cottages are in the ideal location with many reservoirs and trails on the doorstep.

Steeped in history, these stunning barns have been lovingly restored breathing five-star life into their 17 century spirit. With four properties, we have something to suit everyone, Bramble Cottage sleeps 2, Rowan and Birch Cottage sleep 4/5 and The Farmhouse sleeps 6/7.

Now a wedding reception venue during the summer months, we offer a unique package which includes exclusive use of our luxury accommodation together with the hire of our picturesque gardens for a marquee.

Our newly installed tennis court is the ideal way to keep fit while you are here, one guest remarked ‘now where else could you play tennis with such stunning views’. In addition, our new ‘Balinese’ Spa is already proving a welcome retreat for our guests as well as being open to the public, you will find the details below.

We live on site and personally welcome all our guests, making sure that your arrival is seamless and a perfect start to your holiday. We are also on hand during your stay to answer any queries or provide information which will enable you to make the most of your break at our beautiful cottages.

The Spa

Our very own revitalising rural retreat. Having travelled extensively in South East Asia we always came home with a wish to emulate the outstanding facilities and service that we found in their spa’s. Inspired by the relaxing, calming and revitalising aura that we experienced we set about designing our very own Spa here to complement our five-star luxury cottages.

As our lives become increasingly busy it has never been more important to find that elusive ‘me’ time, a little snippet of time to relax, recharge and revitalise. Our spa provides a haven in which to enjoy incredible facilities set within stunning countryside to energise the soul.

Our facilities include steam rooms, sauna’s, foot spa’s, aromatherapy room, tropical experience shower and a Rasul mud room as well as an outdoor area with outdoor wood fired hot tub. A modern , contemporary style of finishes and glass opens up this area highlighting the space and calming atmosphere within our thermal suite.

We have three exquisitely designed treatment rooms (one a double treatment room) to experience the wonders of Temple Spa and the unique collection of facials/ scrubs and massages. We were delighted to discover Temple Spa and felt their ethos and products were a perfect fit with Smallshaw and complemented the vision for our Spa perfectly.

Enhancing our spa experience we have a gorgeously designed quiet room perfect for taking a step back from the outside world to retreat into a haven of relaxation. What an idyllic way to finish off the Spa Experience by unwinding in here perhaps even with a glass of Prosecco.
