Located on a hill farm above the riverside hamlet of Milldale in a beautiful part of the peak District. The shepherd’s huts are nestled on the edge of a small woodland, with nature on the doorstep.
Ideally suited to couples or the solo traveller to escape the bustle of everyday life Two traditional shepherd’s huts full of rustic charm and beauty are reminiscent of the original living accommodation for a shepherd, with their stable doors, cast iron wheels and wood burning stoves.

Today they are a romantic all seasons retreat to relax and unwind and escape the everyday in the countryside.
Our shepherd huts “Fern” & “Lily “(our pet friendly hut) named after sheep dogs are ecologically friendly, with no electricity, television or internet, instead just relax, refresh and awaken your senses amongst nature in the delightful surroundings. For those guests wanting to stay connected with technology there are power points for charging phones nearby in the Old Dairy.

The huts are warm and cosy with their wood burning stoves, perfect for those chilly Winter evenings and cooler days. They each contain a built- in double bed with fresh pretty linens and throws ensuring a good night’s sleep. All the basic pots, pans crockery & glasses are provided. Battery operated lights creating an ambient atmosphere, a camping gas stove for cooking simple meals, alternatively cook outside on the charcoal barbeque and enjoy alfresco dinning.
If you don’t want to do all the cooking, an optional breakfast hamper can be delivered right to your door to set you up for the day. then sit and relax on the shepherd hut balcony in an evening with a glass of wine and watch the sunset disappear behind the trees & distant hills or sit round the fire pit and star gaze under starry skies.

Showers & toilets are just a short stroll 20 metres away through the apple orchard in the Old Dairy.
The shepherd huts are ideally situated near Milldale, Dovedale & Tissington Trail making us an excellent base for walking & cycling.
We are also within easy distance of the market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton and to explore the popular attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Heights of Abraham & Alton Towers to name but a few.

A minimum 2 night hire at the weekend Fri/sat or Sat/Sun
Reductions for 3 nights or more
